Camping in the snow

The weather is cooler now and soon it will be snowing in our favorite camping spots. This means it’s time to try out a new adventure – camping in the snow.

While this may be a foreign concept, fear not, there are a lot of great resources to help you out. BearPaw is an annual training for snow camping offered by the Silicon Valley Monterey Bay Council, Boy Scouts of America.

The course begins with a classroom session on Saturday, November 5th at Santa Clara High School and finishes with a weekend winter camping experience at Cisco Grove Campground near Donor Summit off Highway 80 February 24-26, 2017.

This training and outing attracts 400 Scouts every year. Last year’s event will be featured in the January 2017 edition of the Boy’s Life Magazine.
